Care for Succulent Topiary

Succulent Topiaries are easy to maintain.

How often to water succulent topiary really depends on your geographic location. In coastal southern California we spray over with the garden hose or kitchen spray making sure the water soaks into the moss. Use gentle pressure to avoid damaging the plants. Although it is important to water regularly do not allow them to remain soggy wet. Succulents hate wet feet. They require lots of light and could be in full sun or light shade.

Succulents cannot be outdoors in freezing temperatures. You may need to bring them in for the winter months. When you return them to the outdoors, start out in the shade and gradually move to a sunny location.

Succulents have very few insect problems and in most cases you can wash off the insects with soapy water.

Your topiary requires very little fertilizer, no more than once per year. Use a mild liquid fertilizer recommended for house plants. Follow all directions on the packaging.
